This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and tools to help create a vibrant culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) at work. During this one-day course, you will review the research demonstrating that a respectful and safe workplace makes good business and financial sense.

You will identify the root causes of inequities that persist in most organizations that limits its ability to access the full capabilities and talents of a diverse workforce. You will explore what implicit (or hidden) bias is and how it impacts most interactions among your colleagues and teams. You will learn about specific steps that you, as an employee, can take to uncover and reduce such bias within yourself and your colleagues. You will compare diversity and inclusion and how to apply specific actions and skills that foster equity as well as diversity. You will review the protected classes that federal law has established to prevent discrimination. You will learn how to recognize microaggressions and what actions should be taken when recognized.

Through focused lectures and short relevant videos, supported by real-time exercises of personal assessments and self-reflections, as well as small group interactions among your colleagues, you will experience the benefit of a deepened understanding of these complex leadership challenges. Armed with new insights and practical skills you will become a more effective, inclusive employee for your diverse workforce, resulting in a higher performing work environment respectful of everyone.
